Archangel Sandalphon represents creativity and the celebration of giving. That is what draws the artist to this particular subject - an angel who is said to care for our world, present people’s prayers to God and direct beautiful music in heaven. These positive aspects are reflected in the choice of the colours used in the piece. Bold and bright, they are also the colours that represent Sandalphon.

Born a human by the name of Enoch who then ascends to higher realms and becomes an archangel, ‘Metatron’ symbolises ultimate knowledge, a concept that fascinates the artist. At the centre of the piece is the sacred symbol of Metatron, a tetrahedron comprising of 13 circles. This is said to hold all of the geometric shapes in God’s creation and represents the pattern that makes up everything that God has made. According to the artist, accessing this knowledge is a spiritual exercise that helps one on their path to ascension.

The Keeper of Secrets’ and ‘The Angel of Mysteries’ — this painting presents the archangel Raziel. Unlike his other painting in this series, where each archangel is associated with particular colours, this artwork contains all the colours of the rainbow. This is a representation of Raziel protecting all the secrets of God and this universe.

During troubling times, the artist draws solace from Gabriel, the archangel, the embodiment of the strength of god. This forms the crux of the painting, which also features the symbol Gabriel. It also incorporates three circles, forming the holy trinity of the mind, the body, and the spirit, offering symmetry.

However, in this painting the artist takes it a step further and shows the evolution of the butterfly into an archangel. “It is a fantastical depiction of what we can achieve when we connect with our higher selves; when we truly reach our full potential,” says the artist.

In this painting, the artist offers a rendition of Eleleth, the archangel of beauty. Beauty, to the artist, is not based on mere attractiveness. It is more about the concepts of balance and symmetry, how one can beautify oneself and one’s space. A lot of this beauty, he suggests, has been lost during the pandemic, and Eleleth is one way to bring it back.

QUeTZaLCOATL

The artist contends that we all have the means to achieve the best versions of ourselves, though different people embark on different paths to unlock their hidden potential.
